About Hiut
Hiut makes jeans by hand in its own factory in Aberteifi (Cardigan), Wales, using organic cotton denim and Japanese selvedge cloth from Kuroki alongside Italian indigo from Candiani. The town had a denim factory employing over 400 people in the 1960s; when production moved offshore in 2002 the jobs left but the skill stayed, and Hiut was founded in 2011 to put that knowledge back to work. Each pair passes through cutters, machinists and sewists, is signed by its maker, and comes with free repairs for life, with senior craftspeople known as Grand Masters training the next generation.
